What this contact sheet maker does
Combine several images into one labeled grid. You choose the number of columns, the cell width and height, the gap between cells, the background color, and whether file names appear under each image. The downloaded PNG gives you a quick visual index for proofs, photo selections, asset reviews, thumbnails, or design references.
Each image is fitted inside its cell so the grid stays consistent. The tool keeps the source proportions while placing the image inside the chosen cell. It does not upload the files to a server for this workflow.
How to create a contact sheet
- Select the image files you want to review, or drag them into the upload area.
- Set the number of columns. More columns make a wider and shorter sheet; fewer columns make each row easier to inspect.
- Set the cell width, cell height, and gap in pixels.
- Choose a background color and decide whether file names should be shown.
- Select Create & Download to save one PNG contact sheet.
Picking useful grid settings
Use a larger cell when the sheet is for image review or client proofs. Use smaller cells when the sheet is only an index. Leave enough gap for labels to remain readable. If file names are long, rename the source files before creating the sheet so the labels are easier to scan.
What the output contains
The output is a PNG grid with one cell for each uploaded image. Empty cells are not added after the final image. The overall pixel dimensions depend on the column count, cell dimensions, and gap, so a sheet with many images can become large. Reduce cell size or process the files in smaller groups when necessary.
Privacy and file handling
Images are read locally by the browser and drawn onto a Canvas. The contact sheet is then downloaded directly to your device. The workflow does not require an account or a server-side upload.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I show the original file names?
Yes. Keep Show file names checked. The sheet prints a shortened, readable label below each image.
Does the contact sheet crop my images?
Images are fitted into their cells while keeping their proportions. The grid reserves the cell space, so unused space may remain around a portrait or landscape image.
Can I create a PDF contact sheet?
This tool currently downloads a PNG contact sheet. You can print or convert that PNG with a separate PDF workflow when a PDF is required.
