Use this tool when an image needs to fit a fixed canvas but the original picture should remain visible. The tool scales the image into the target width and height, then fills the unused space with the background color you choose. This is useful for square product images, profile pictures, thumbnails, and social media layouts where cropping would remove important details.
The output dimensions are exact pixel dimensions. The added area becomes part of the new canvas, so the downloaded file has the size you entered even when the source image has a different shape.
How to add padding to an image
- Select one or more JPG, PNG, WEBP, or SVG images, or drag them into the upload area.
- Enter the target width and height in pixels.
- Choose Keep whole image when every part of the photo must stay visible. Choose Crop to fill when the image should cover the complete canvas.

When padding is better than cropping
